I edit on a 27inch iMac with a Core i5 and 24GB of RAM. I originally started editing with Final Cut Pro X, but more recently we have switched to Adobe Premiere Pro CC. If your looking into video editing software and wondering which one I would recommend, here are my thoughts on the two.

As a video editor, I do not take the actual video. I am training to be a second shooter to accompany our primary videographer for just in case scenarios. Being an editor has its complexities, I have to work with the videographer and our director to understand the direction they want the finish product to go in. They also help me understand our clients better and determine the type of feel the finished product should have. As an editor, I'm not in full control of the final outcome. I work closely with our director to determine what is working and what isn't. Everything from the music choice, graphic creation, and which clips are selected for use, go through careful consideration by my director. Everybody does what they do with a purpose, our director directs with a vision, our videographer shoots with a purpose and I edit to bring purpose to that vision. We rarely storyboard our sessions because they are too unpredictable and so are the clients, so every video has had it's challenges.
